Summer Reading Program 2017

CORNWALL, NY – Cornwall Public Library’s 2017 Summer Reading Program, “Build a Better World” officially begins Monday, June 26 at 6:00pm with its annual kick-off and registration event. Learn all about Nature’s Architects with Animal Embassy – an organization dedicated to exotic animal rescue/adoption and environmental education. Discover the talents of a diverse group of creatures that build complicated structures, enabling their survival. There is also a kick-off event for teens (grades 6-12) on Wednesday, June 28 at 3:00pm where they can “Build A Better Sundae” – bring friends, eat ice cream and sign-up for summer!

Once you are registered for Summer Reading, there are many exciting events coming your way for every age from birth to teens. There are programs all summer long for children including Minecraft Mania, Family Build-It, and Playtime. Some of our programs for teens include Battle of the Books and Teen Writers. Be sure not to miss our other fun events: Bicycle Rodeo, Jester Jim, and our Solar Eclipse Program just to name a few.

Adults can also get in the action by registering online for the Adult Summer Reading Program. Just read three books, post reviews, and win a prize. Our Adult program features a presentation with a dietician and nutrition expert on building a better recipe/meal, and a “Trail Talk” on hikes for all ages. No matter the age, we believe that it is important for the entire Cornwall Community to keep reading, have fun, and help “Build a Better World!”

More information is available at the library, and can also be found on the library’s website. Visit: and click on “Youth Summer Reading” or “Adult Summer Reading” or call 845-534-8282.
