Letters to the Editor: We SAVED the Cornwall ER

March 15, 2014

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

You may have heard the great news by now, but, we did it. After thousands of petitions, thousands of emails, forums, and rallies, we've saved the Cornwall ER.

The hospital executives have committed to stop their pursuit of a part-time emergency department; I congratulate them on their decision and listening to the people.

While I will remain watchful for any future cuts, I truly look forward to working with the hospital toward financial sustainability as well as preserving and expanding services at Cornwall.

This wouldn't have been possible without the community's and employees' constant support. I'm so proud of and thankful for everyone who has been involved in this six-month effort.

Always yours,
James

have you even used the cornwall emergency room? it is not quality care and the folks that work there seemed annoyed to get up off their chairs. better to go to urgent care center or to newburgh emergency room.

The Cornwall ER is a small-town community ER with a kind and caring staff. In the event of an emergency, another hospital campus may be too far away, even in an ambulance with lights and sirens. A bad experience in the ER should not reflect upon the entirety of care of a hospital.
