Obituaries: Laura A. (McArdle) O'Connor

January 25, 2019

 LAURA A. O’CONNOR
September 28, 1955 – January 24, 2019
Cornwall, NY

Laura A. (McArdle) O’Connor, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2019 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Manhattan, NY. She was 63 years old.

The daughter of the late John J. McArdle and Mary M. (Sheppard) McArdle, Laura was born on September 28, 1955 in Manhattan, NY.

Laura was a proud retired employee of United Airlines, having worked for over 30 years in various customer service positions, her last position being at Newark Airport, Newark, NJ.

Laura was a contagiously warm and enthusiastic person, extremely devoted to her family. In her too short retirement, she loved to travel, and happily gave of her time to numerous charitable organizations, including the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Those who met her will never forget her. She was the true matriarch of her family; leaving a void, which will never be filled.

Laura is survived by her loving husband: Michael P. O’Connor at home; her sons: Patrick J. O’Connor and his wife Cassandra of Brooklyn, NY and Sean M. O’Connor of Cornwall, NY; her daughter: Margaret (O’Connor) Cuomo and her husband Kevin of Cornwall, NY; her brothers: Ronald and Gerard McArdle; and her sisters: Beth Eybers and Valarie Durkin. Laura is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and cousins-in-law, to whom she was extremely close.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 27th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 28th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.

Arrangements are entrusted to Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc.; to send condolences or to get directions to the funeral home, please go to www.Quigleybros.com
