The daughter of the late William and Helen Carney Brunner, she was born on March 13, 1921 in Newburgh, NY.

Shirley walked all over town, especially to St. John's Episcopal Church every Sunday and religious holiday - until Easter Sunday four years ago when she fell before church and broke her hip.

Shirley was an amazing person. She had a gentle and humble soul, and loved her prayer book. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her smile and encouragement will be missed beyond words by her entire family.

Survivors include: daughters Shirley Cannelli and husband Carmen; Evelyn (Ebby) Needham; Helen Bunt; Diane Casterlin; son Tjerick Casterlin and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren: Vincent Cannelli and fiance Jacqueline Hoey, Corinn Scoppa and husband Philip, Steven Bunt and wife Sherry, Walter Bunt and wife Linda, Jennifer Casterlin, Tjerick Casterlin, Jr. and wife Elisha, Jason Casterlin and wife Jessica, and Krissy, Karen and Julie Casterlin; plus many great and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Casterlin, son Kenneth Casterlin, brothers Harry and William Brunner and son-in-law Walter Bunt.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm on Monday, October 22 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, October 23 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 66 Clinton St., Cornwall, NY. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mountainville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Shirley's memory please be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
