Obituaries: Helen M. Murino

March 27, 2018

February 27, 1922 - March 24, 2018

Cornwall, NY

Helen M. Murino, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2018 at Cortlandt Healthcare, Cortlandt Manor, NY. She was 96 years old. The daughter of the late George Jeandemange and Rose (Muzio) Jeandemange, Helen was born on February 27, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Francis X. Murino in 1980.

She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury parish and volunteered at the Cornwall Hospital luncheonette for many years, where she was known as the “Brownie Lady,” as she always brought in her “secret ingredient” brownies.

A family statement reads: “Helen’s family was everything to her. She lived with her daughter, Pat and her late husband, Bill for the better part of 33 years. Because of this living arrangement, her youngest daughter, Diane and husband, Mike were able to visit frequently making this family complete for her. She was able to live with and see her beloved three grandchildren grow up to marry and have children of their own. Her unequivocal love of her family could only be matched by her unequivocal love of cooking. Anyone who was lucky enough to enjoy her food would agree it was a filled with love along with its amazing flavor. She will be greatly missed”.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Moore of Cornwall, NY and Diane Cognitore and her husband, Mike of Fleischmanns, NY; her grandchildren, Scott (Kaylena) Moore, Matt (Henny) Moore and Jenn (Brandon) Cipperly; her great grandchildren, Aidan, Ella, Mason, Jax, Liam and Jaden. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her son-in-law, William M. Moore and her sister, Rose Matarazzo.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.
