Obituaries: Ann Lovejoy Steinberg

January 05, 2018

ANN L. STEINBERG
August 14, 1932 – December 31, 2017
Salisbury Mills, NY

Ann Lovejoy Steinberg, of Salisbury Mills, NY passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on December 31, 2017. She battled Alzheimer's for fifteen years. She was 85 years old.

The daughter of the late James M. Robbins and Virginia (Peters) Robbins, Ann was born on August 14, 1932 in Maplewood, NJ.

Ann graduated from Simons College in Boston, MA with a degree in Home Economics. She worked with her husband, John, at Schoonmaker Homes in Newburgh, NY until she retired in 2006.

Ann was a special person; a good listener; easily accepted by others; and full of love, warmth, and caring. She was ladylike with a wonderful sense of humor which sometimes to our surprise was not so ladylike. She loved entertaining and opening her home and her heart to her friends. Ann was active in the Cornwall New Comers Club especially the bridge group and the gourmet group. She was a member of St. John's parish. We will all miss her greatly.

Ann is survived by her loving husband: John Steinberg, Jr.; her children: Leslie Gray and her husband Prentiss; Meredith Steinberg and her husband Larry Popino; John J. Steinberg and his wife Linda and Carrie Steinberg; her grandchildren: Matthew, Zachary and Nathaniel Gray; her sister: Sara Mueller and her husband Dr. Gus Mueller, their children Rachel Mueller, Gretchen Mueller, Jim Mueller and his wife Tracey, and Edith and her husband Paul McDonald; her niece Arietta Slade and her husband Sam Felder.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 20th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A dinner in celebration of Ann’s life will be held at Vinum Cafe in Washingtonville, NY at 5:30 pm on Saturday. Please RSVP if you will attend the dinner to Leslie Gray at 973-632-3093. The offering of a Burial Office will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 21st at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 66 Clinton Street, Cornwall, NY. Inurnment to follow in the Columbarium at St. John’s.
