Obituaries: Richard Douglass

 Richard “Rick” Douglass, of Davenport, FL entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2017 at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, Haines City, FL. He was 71 years old.

He had a life long love of sports and westerns. He was a wonderful husband and dad, and well known and respected by his community.

The son of the late Thomas Douglass, Jr. and Allison MacMorran, Rick was born on January 8, 1946 in Cornwall, NY.

Rick graduated from OCCC with an A.A.S. in Business Administration and B.S. in Criminal Justice from Mercy College.

Rick was the retired Police Chief for the Village of Cornwall-On-Hudson Police Department where he proudly served the community for over 25 years.

Rick honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a Military Police Officer.

He was a long time Little League Coach and supporter. He was an active member of the New York State Chiefs of Police Association. After retiring, he participated in Florida Senior Games and won several medals.
A family statement reads: “Everyone who knew him respected him and he was well liked, and he was always someone you could count on.” He will be missed greatly.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Patricia J. Douglass; his son, Brian Douglass and his wife Jennifer; his daughter, Debbie Douglass; and daughter Diane (Douglass) Muscarella and her husband Robert. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Douglass III and his wife Sally; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 8th at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-On-Hudson NY. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 5 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Heart Association at heart.org or the ASPCA at aspca.org
